Cool HELP! Front panel header(power button wiring)

I ordered and received the XG T Series Thermally Advantaged Chassis from oxoide recently and I have a question about it. The front panel header (wires that connect the power button and leds) has five connectors that come out the back of the case front that needs to connect to the motherboard. I found this connection point on the board but I’m having trouble matching up where the connectors go on the pins. I’m running a D975XBX Intel motherboard, and the manual gives some explanation as to where they go, but it’s still unclear. Could you please give me some help on how to connect the wire harness? Here is the configuration of the pins on the board and their explanation. Thank you very much for your help.

This is the prong colors and numbers on the mother board for the explanation below.

Here is the description of the five connectors from the case harness.

Power Led - green wire and white wire, both two and three hole connectors (I got this one!)

DC. SW. – black wire and red wire, two hole connector

H.D.D. LED – red wire and white wire, two hole connector

Speaker – 1 red and 1 black wire at opposite ends of the 4 hole connector (Really confused about this one. Speaker?)

I really appreciate any help you can give me on this problem. Thank you very much.

The speaker header may be on a different place on the motherboard.

You really can't screw up the HD led wires. Just put them on the right pins on the motherboard. If the light doesn't work, flip it around and it will.

Not sure what the DC SW is supposed to be.

Intel labels the speaker on the board. It's just a small cylinder with a small hole in the top with no pins. The only other pins on the board besides the 9 pin header set (which is in a 2x5 grouped configuration with #10 blank) are the fan pins. So I need to know which of those 9 pins to attach the speaker (if I have to attach the speaker connecter at all?), and HD led connecters to. I afraid of trial/error because I don't wan't to short my board.

P.S. Anybody else know what the DC SW is?

If there are no speaker pins, then don't attach the speaker.

You won't short out the board by connecting the HD wires backwards; the light just won't work. It looks like pins 1 and 3, which are yellow, are for the HD activity light.

Is there any way to follow the "DC SW" wires to see where they lead to?

DC SW goes to the power button. So, I think that connector should go to the #6 and #8 pins. Does that sound right?

I think you're right about the HD connector. I'll be doing a first boot in a couple days, so I'll post the results then.

Thanks for your help!

Yes, if that's the power button, then it would go to pins 6 and 8. It doesn't matter how you attach it; you can't get the power wires backwards like you can with the HD activity LED.

I just finished putting an Intel board together (This is my first P4, and only my second build). With my board came this fold out called a "Quick Referece" with all the pin outs and installation instructions. I don't know if all Intel boards follow the same convention, but if they do, this is what mine did:

Pin 1 (Yellow) HDD Led +
Pin 2 (Green) Power Led +
Pin 3 (Yellow) HDD Led -
Pin 4 (Green) Power Led -
Pin 5 (Purple) Reset Switch
Pin 6 (Red) Power Switch
Pin 7 (Purple) Reset Switch
Pin 8 (Red) Power Switch
Pin 9 (Grey) Not Connected
Slot (No Pin) Key

X|9
8|7
6|5
4|3
2|1

There is no speaker connector on the board, as the speaker is built into the board.
