Compatible specs?

I was looking to buy a new computer but decided to try and build one myself
I picked out some things, but was wondering if it all works together. Also if there are any better/cheaper options. I am a light gamer/photo editing person.

First off, the power supply in that case is likely junk. You are going to want to get something quality, seperate, from Antec, FSP, or Sparkle. It's going to need to be an ATX 2.0 unit with a 24 or 20+4 pin main connector. See if you can get that case without the power supply to save a few bucks.

Your mobo isn't compatible with your CPU and video card. You need something with an LGA775 socket and PCI-E. The ASUS P5LD2 is a good choice...

You should get an SATA drive instead of a PATA (IDE) drive.

You'll want a dual channel kit for the RAM (2 sticks sold together instead of just one). Dual channel makes a big difference on Intel systens. I'd recommend a gig of Corsair Value Select (2 x 512MB). You'll need to switch to DDR2 533 (240-pin) RAM with that ASUS motherboard.

I assume you are using dial-up since you picked out a modem (no need for it if you aren't)...

You could probably drop the sound card...the onboard sound will sound just as good as a $20 sound card.

I'm not sure what your maximum budget is, so if the seperate PSU and better motherboard knocks you over budget, let us know.

Just to conferm what Blue said. Azza is the UK name of "Artec". Not to be confused with "Antec", which is a good brand. That PSU should be avoided to be safe.

I couldn't find the case without a PSU so I found this other one. Whats the difference between amd or intel CPU? Would all the fans make the PC loud/Are there enough fans? I don't know anything about video cards, I just randomly picked one, literally. Is the video card good enough or could I save some money by getting a cheaper one? I am using a modem, and I would like to lower the price of everything to around 700 excluding the moniter.
Thanks for the help

Raidmax is not known for quality PSUs - you would want to look in the direction of Antec, FSP, Sparkle, etc.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103936

That WD Hard drive will work fine with the rest of the system.

Different manufacturer = different product. Both Intel and AMD make fine processors - I'd say pick one and stick to it.

Aspire's cases tend to come with rather noisy fans - so yes, it would be a bit on the louder side. If you need to, you could replace the fans as needed with more quieter more efficient fans, but I suggest just going with what it comes with first.

The GeForce 6600 will get the job done. It will not perform well in games, but in terms of photo editing, it'll work.

Rosewill power supplies are of low quality also. I couldn't find a single quality power supply on newegg with LEDs. You can get Antec Trueblue power supplies - quality with a blue light - but not from Newegg it would seem.

What I would do is get whatever case you want, and replace the fans with llghted ones. Most good fans arn't more then $5.00 and that's a little on the high side.

I wouldn't try to find a PSU with light. The three you have listed so far are pretty iffy brands. Here is a list of known good and bad power supply brands. I would stick to it to be sure.

http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195

You don't 'need' one of the highest rated brands in blue, but it wouldn't hurt if you can go with one.

When it comes to power supplies, you have to put quality ahead of aesthetics.

Can't really comment on the sound pads...generally sound absorbers that really work are going to cost much more than $10. I've seen quality sound absorbers (that work really well) for at the least, $60 or more. I'd hold off on anything like that until you get the case. I'd replace noisy fans with quiet ones before going to measures of sound absorbtion. It's better to kill the source of the noise than to just muffle it.

So i'll go with this PSU. Is 450W enough?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103936
And the fans in the case are lighted but if they are loud I would like to replace them. So is it easy to replace a fan? Are 80mm or 120mm better?
Heres some I found

OK, that's a much better power supply. I would think 450W is enough.

Provided the case can accept 120mm fans, the 120mm fans are the best. Because they are larger, they can move the same amount of air as a smaller one, but turn much slower, thus meaning less noise.

It looks like that Aspire takes 1 120mm fan in the rear 2 80mm in the front and one on the side. I looked up the specs on the Aspire website, and it appears it does come with a 120mm and an 80mm. They fail to mention the specs of the fans. You might want to just wait to replace any fans...you can always swap them out later...there's 4 screws and a power cable to hook up.

There we go. That PSU will work just fine for your system. 450 watts should cover your system great.

As far as fans go, mm stands for milimeter. You use whatever size fits in the holes in your case. Looks like your case has space for one 80mm fan in the side window, and one rear 120mm fan. I wouldn't spend quite that much, but it's your call. Depends if looks and noise are that big for you or not.

In general though, Aspire cases come with very loud fans that move a lot of air. However, I agree you should wait on it - if need the sound gets to you, you can always install new ones later on.

Is there any way I can lower the price by $100 or $200? I noticed in the picture of the case that there is a slot for a 3.5 floppy drive, does that come covered or would I need to buy one of these so there is not a hole in the case

The case does not come with a floppy drive - the "whole" is mearly a faceplate for where the drive is suppsoed to go. A floppy drive is a nice, handy tool to have, but not absolutely necessary. But for the price, you really can't go wrong picking one up.

If you don't need the printer right away, could drop that and wait for a sale at your local big box store and save the freight. Same goes for the speakers. To save any more would mean dropping items or downgrading components.

I was wondering if I could downgrade somethings to save money without affecting performance too much. Also the hp pc I have right now has a 5.5 gb recovery drive, when I start the computer there is an option to recover the pc to its original settings/software. Could I just do this by reinstalling windows xp? I have read that some people copy their windows xp to a seperate backup drive, would there be enough space to install another drive?

Yes you can install a clean disk of Windows XP onto your new system - be aware that the HP desktop has some proprietary drivers you may need to additionally install.

I don't want to take the drive out of my hp pc. I wanted to know if I could get that same option of recovering my built pc or if I would have to install xp from the cd.
I wanted to get this tv tuner instead

is it compatible with everything else?

I'm not really up on the latest camras, but looks like a pretty good deal for a pocket picture/video camra. If a combo device is what you want, for $250 I'd grab it.

I'm not going to be using the video that much, but I really like the look/size of the camera.
