having problems on initial boot

after ive installed everything and trying the initial boot all i get is about 1/2 second of power (all led's and fans kick in). after that first 1/2 sec, then its dead. i havent tried assembling the components outside of the case due to lack of room to work with. i have tested my power supply, checked to make sure that the ram, graphic card, and cpu are all seated correctly. also while rechecking all my connections, ive noticed something that i overlooked before, i dont have a system speaker. im not sure if not having that would cause any problems or not, but just found it odd. any help is much appreciated

Can you post your full sys specs (including brand/make of the power supply unit) please?

mobo: asus a8n32-sli deluxe
cpu: amd athlon x2 dual core 4400+
graphic card: asus 7800gt
power supply: powork 600w
ram: 2 gb corsair xms2
chasis: thermaltake tsunami dream

my power supply is the only thing im not sure of. i have an antec hooked up in another comp thats lower wattage. i wasnt gonna use this cause im planning on setting two sli cards up and i dont think the antec would have nuff power.

EDIT: oh forgot to mention that the onboard led lights up and stays on when power supply is connected

ok found my problem, it was the ram modules. kinda feel like an idiot right now, 240 pin modules dont fit in 184 pin slots. so i took the ram outa my other comp plugged it in and voila. anyways, about the power supply, im gonna put in my antec and see if it can keep this system stable, and when i go to sli, ill get thermaltakes dedicated sli power supply. well thanks for the help, and great info here. gonna bookmark and use as a reference from now on

Ack! You fit a 240-pin stick into a 184-pin DIMM slot? Look into Corsair ValueSelect DDR400 PC3200 sticks of RAM.

You should replace the main power supply with a SLI-Certified unit...I wouldn't try to "patch" the problem with that supplemental video power supply.
