I had this computer that crapped out on me once.....The motherboard started smoking and the hard drive had problems....what my real concern here is if I should worry about testing the power supply in my case, and also if a regular ATX motherboard would fit in there???? (Case is described as a mid ATX 300 watts) I'm thinking of just throwing in a new motherboard, HDD, CPU, RAM, Video card, DVD-RW drive, but I don't know if the power supply is straight. Any thoughts? Also, it's just better to get newer components, right? I mean, I still have that athlon xp 2000+ cpu and the ram, but am unsure if the components are still good..afterall, that computer did fry......

What brand is the case? Generally, power supplies that come with cases are of poor quality (Antec and Enlight notable exceptions), and 300w will struggle to power a modern build well.
A regular ATX motherboard will fit in an ATX case. FK
