Do you have the motherboard manual? If not you can go to the manufacturer's web site and download a copy.

Power and reset connectors can go on either way, they do not have polarity.

For LEDs the colored wire is usually power. The white or black wire is usually ground. On the front panel header (where the wires connect to) look to see if there is any identification for the pins and if the LED pins are marked to show which side is power. If the LEDs don't light up just flip the connectors 180 degrees.

Hi blackboxchicken,

Welcome to PC Mechanic !!

You'll need to find out exactly which mobo you have and d/l the manual for detail / exact instructions, as each mobo is a little different. In general, though, you most likely can do it without the manual as most mobos have the locations printed on the mobo: The speaker goes to speaker, which could be called anything similar, like "spkr" or the like. Items like the power swich may be labeld "pwr" and the hard drive light is often labled as 'IDE.'

It'd be best to open the case and get the mobo name and model number off the board itself.

PS: dang... still have to learn to type faster!! Cricket beat me to it ( again )
