Question System Standby Question...

Hello again everyone,
As you may remember, I recently built my first computer. The question I have now concerns System Standby mode. My wife has a pre-built Compaq computer and when you put it on standby (which I'm sure is similar for many other computers) the system appears to power down. The fans stop going, the lights go off, basically it looks like it's off except that the power light blinks. My computer, on the other hand, does not do this. As far as I can tell, it may not even be on standby. The monitor will go off when I tell it to, but I don't know about the computer because everything continues to run. The CPU fan & all case fans keep going, etc. I was wondering if it's possible to get my computer to power down like my wife's. Any suggestions??? Thank you.

Thanks, but I do know that much, lol. The problem is that when the computer is supposedly on Standby, it doesn't appear to be. All the lights & fans are still going (including the CPU fan). It doesn't actually power down. Even if I go to Start, Turn Off Computer, then hit Standby that way it doesn't make a difference. I see my monitor go on standby, but nothing happens to the computer.

There may be some options to select in the BIOS. Should be a tab called power management or something with power in the title.

I've looked there, but there is nothing that seems to be it. Of course, I don't think I can decipher everything in the BIOS setup. If you know what I need to be looking for, that would really help me out, lol. But if it's there, I didn't know what it meant.
