PSU going dead on first build?

I built my first computer about 4-5 months ago. Everything has been going fine...until now. A new noise has started, a high pitched whirring. Ive narrowed it down, it is coming from my PSU..im 90% sure its from the fan in the PSU.

The noise gets more intense i do things (such as play video games) rather than just sit on the desktop or surf the net. If i alt+tab out of a game the noise lets down a bit, as i tab back in.. it becomes louder again.

Should i be worried? This wasnt happening before. Time to replace it?

This is the current PSU that i am using that is making the noise.

Specs on the build.
amd 3500+
bfg 7800 gt 256
dfi lan party
1gb corsair

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

If it is still under warranty, I'd contact Antec about it. Could be a fan bearing going bad.

Since the sound gets worse as the fan works harder, sounds like a bearing going out to me too. It happens. I've had to replace a few case fans because of that.

Though another possiblity could be dust. Before you go to replace it, try blowing some compressed air around into the fan and see if it helps. MAKE SURE that you pull the power plug and shut the power switch off on the PSU just to be safe before hand.

If that doesn't do anything, and you haven't had it that long, contact Antec and see if they will help you out. Otherwise, ya might be time to swap it. If you end up doing that, wouldn't hurt to keep that one around for testing. Should still work fine for that for awhile.

I recall another member, pam123, had a similar problem with an Antec.

Pam didn't specify what Antec though...
