motherboard connection to frontside case ports

hey, im planning on building my first computer, but would like some help. im planning on getting an asus k8v x se mobo. the case im planning on getting is an ASPIRE X-DISCOVERY case. i know the mobo has usb connections to the frontside case usb, but i dont know wheter the mobo has a firewire connection to the frontside case firewire. if the mobo doesnt have the firewire connection, will a pci firewire card have the right connection? thanks...

I just built a Antec Sonata II case (FireWire in front) with a ASUS A8N5X mobo (no FireWire on board). I purchased a FireWire card with an internal connection (very important). But – my case cable does not match up with the internal connection. Turns out Antec sells an internal cable for this purpose ($5.99 + shipping). I was not able to find a similar cable on NewEgg.

I checked the specs on the K8V-X-SE, and it doesn't appear that it has firewire built in, so you'd need to get a PCI card. I don't know of a card that has an internal header for the connection of the front mounted case port, though. All the ones I've seen merely have 2 or 3 ports on the rear, and occasionally an internal connector.

Your board specs show NO firewire. You'll need a PCI card. Make sure the one you select has an internal header so you can plug in the front case wiring.
