I've decided to build my own PC since it will be cheaper than goin through places like Alienware, which I have done in the past. I'm not very familiar with compatibility issues between parts, and need your help to determine if the following build will work.

For the memory, look into Corsair 512x2 DDR400 as opposed to DDR500. You will essentially getting the same thing for less, granted that you will not be overclocking. Same with the operating system. Unless you intend to use the Media Center options, it's will be a normal Windows XP operating system otherwise. Yes, that is a bit of an overkill for the power supply unit - almost anything that is an nVidia SLI Certified PSU will work fine. I recommend the Antec TruePower II 550W PSU.

Actually, to be on the safe side, it wouldn't hurt to go with one of the power supplies on the dual 7800GTX 512/7900GTX section. Since you have the OC version of those cards it definitely won't hurt. I'd recommend one of the FSP's or Sparkles. 900W is overkill though, something around 600W would be safe.

I agree with the previous comments.
Looks like a good build, you may want to get a floppy drive - they do come in handy once in a while. |

Update to the above system!
I have updated the following components to my system from those above:
PSU: OCZ OCZ600ADJSLI ATX12V 2.01, ATX, BTX, SATA, P4, and EPS12V > 600Watts Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16817711001 Went ahead and got the right Corsair 2x1gb DDR400 PC3200 sticks of memory that were compatible with the motherboard. Also psu now has correct 24pin connector that is same on the motherboard. As far as OS I just went ahead with retail of WinXP Professional w/SP2. |

Not real technical-the case you selected is black and the optical is beige-do you care how your machine looks? I guess it depends but if I was spending that sort of cash I'd want it to be pretty flashy. Just find the black version.

Thx for the input all. Ordering the parts tonight, and I might end up posting here again for some advice during installation.
