power supply

i am planning on building my first computer, but dont know how powerful a power supply to get. im thinking of going with a 500w power supply, but what is an easy way to figure out how much power i need?

You can get a rough idea with this calculator: http://extreme.outervision.com/index.jsp assuming you have an idea of what parts you want to use.

Keep in mind that most builds need 400w or more. If you plan on using SLI, you'll need a large, SLI certifed power supply.
