Clock Speeds

I don't care what is better but what are the equivalent speeds in terms of performance between AMD and Intel, I know AMD's clock speeds are lower.

Also, will AMD ever switch to DDR2, I probably won't do my build until the end of summeronce I get some cash and am wondering if this will be available then. The board I was looking at for AMD is the ASUS AL8-SLI, is this good?

Yes that is fine. AMD's AM2 (DDR2-socket) will probably be rolling out soon, in the next few months, even weeks. I'm presuming you're pointing to the A8N-SLI - it is a fine motherboard but it will not support AM2 and DDR2.

Your first question is very similar to your other post:

Sorry if I didn't answer than one sufficiently... Still, a 3000+ wil perform roughly the same as an Intel 3.0GHz unit.

AMD will be rolling out with DDR2 very soon now from what I'm hearing.

No, your first post was fine I just thought I might get some other people seeing the post if I put it here, plus I had another question. Also, will the current AMD processors be compatible with DDR2? What's AM2?

Like I said before, I am planning to do my build at the end of summer, will most components now be completely obsolete then, will most things even be available? Is it worth selecting components now or am I going to have to start over again?

AM2 is AMD's next socket type that will allow DDR2 memory to run with an Athlon 64 processor. Current AMD Processors will only work with standard DDR.

So, if it works with current processors doesn't that mean these technologies are already out or is this what we are still waiting for to be released.

Current AMD Athlon 64 processors based on Socket 939 and 754 do not support DDR2. They only accept standard DDR. AMD will release Socket AM2 Athlon 64 processors later on. DDR2 is currently being used by Intel's Pentium 4/D/EE processors.
