First Build- First Problem

Hey guys,

So far I have gone through step by step using your manual on how to build a computer and it has been great! I have just powered up my computer for the first time and everything comes on (LED's, Fans, cd-roms working).

After that i just get a blank monitor... the BIOS never comes up. I am not really sure what to do now. Here are my specs...

Mobo= ASUS A8N5X
Memory= OCZ 2x 1gb stick
Case= Sunbeam w/ 450w power supply
Procesor= AMD 3500+
Video Card= Nvidia 7600 GT
Drives= LITE-ON CD Burner & ASUS 16X DVD±R DVD Burner
HD= Seagate Barracuda 250 gb serial ATA150 HD
OS= Windows XP

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

did you get the normal post beep ?
if not, then the the system did not complete the post.
double check all the power supply connections and reseat the video card, make sure that the monitor is connected and working, and turned on.
then try it again.

Also check that you have the alternate 12V Power Connector (a 2x2 4-pin connector) plugged in. It should be located near the CPU, and is not the same as the 4-pin connector that extends the 20-pin power connection to the motherboard.

THANK YOU SO MUCH KAREESER!

I must have been blind for not seeing that! Everything booted up fine and I got everything installed.

Technically, you should thank bailey, as he suggested double-checking the power connectors. I simply elaborated

Don't worry about your mistake. I made the very same one. Just pay it forward.

As for your ethernet problem, you probably have to install the drivers onto your computer. They will most likely be bundled on a CD with the motherboard.
