3rd Motherboard later and im still having the same problem, this time its worse. My computer stays on for 2 min shuts off, Reboot 10 sec shuts off, then again.
I take the clam that holds the CPU heatsink on, computer stays on for 10 min, where i was able to check temperatres and stuff. everything seemes reasonable. After installing the SOund Information, dudring a reboot the comp shuts off again, then i reboot and shuts off again. Now i tried taking out the Graphics card, Same problem, took out the CD ROM, same prob, i even tried Booting with no HD. Same problem, Im left with the RAM, PSU, and the Processer. Any other ideas |

It definitely sounds like a heat issues. What do you mean you "take the clam that holds the CPU heatsink on"? What are your complete system specs? Are you using a retail heatsink and fan that came with the processor or something else?

Sorry bought that i ment to say clamp, yes this is the regular heatsink, and even though the heat is at a low 27 degrees, that can still be a heat issue? AMD 3000 + ASUS NFORCE 4 SLI ROSWILL 500W 6600GT GRAPHICS CARD 1G of PQI RAM DDR 2x 512 Sticks 160 GB HD |

Where are you getting that 27 degree reading from? That's pretty low for a processor, barely above room temperature.

The fan on the heat sink is working, correct? Are you using thermal paste or the pad that came with the heat sink?

If you used too much thermal paste, it can ooze out and cause a short. When using thermal paste, you want to enough to put a haze on the CPU face(a dab about the size of a grain of rice). Also, any old stuff needs to be cleaned off before using new.

Have you considered trying to rebuild out of the box? Someone with better search-fu could get a link going, but it's essentially a bare bones build outside of the case.

Where is that temp coming from? Its like the cpu isn't even working at a few hundred megahert to be only 27 celsius.

I would swap out my power supply for a know good unit, and only install one stick of memory at a time in the first slot. Then I would try a different processor. You know it's not your board if you've tried 3. But I have seen bad capacitors in power supplies cause reboots after a while. Check your 12Volt DC in Bios and check your AC Input as well (115 V AC - 125 V AC) with minimual fluctuations. Be sure it's not your monitor shutting off because of heat or a short also (Although thats not very likely). if your chipset is showing 50 degrees in Sandra then thats hot for a chipset, possible power surge or hardware device hogging power.
