Ref: New mobo, XP startup problems...

Thanks for your reply Panama Red.

I got myself an original XP disk, and booted my system with a WinME startup disk downloaded from www.bootdisk.com. This enabled me to format my c-drive (FAT32). D: drive apparently was in ntfs format, that's why I couldn't access it from dos.

After formatting I re-installed windows XP without a hitch, and opted to keep my FAT32 format to make sure that I will have access to my c: drive from dos if anything happens.

The system is now running smoothly, thanks to msdos!! I dread to think what would have happened if both drives had been in ntfs format... Mr. Gates might want to think about that.

cheers
