Weird new build problem
I'm pretty sure this problem has not been talked about becasue i did a search. If it was, then i'm sorry. This is my first solo build, so please be patient. Anyways, here's what i'm working with....
MB: Gigabyte Ga-81pe1000-g Processor: Intel celeron D 2.8 Ghz Graphics: FX 5200 128 MB HDD: 120 GB Maxtor 7200 Do i need anything else?...please let me know... So here is the problem. The system i'm puttiing together has a HDD that has windows already installed on it. Now, this HDD was previously working with almost the exact same MB, except it was the pro-g version, instead of the G version i have now. They look exactly the same and have the same exact chipsets, specs, etc... So, when i go to boot up for the first time i get the bios screen. It says to press del to get to enter the bios setup. When i pressed del it did nothing. After checking the keyboard cable, still nothing. So i then shut it down, tighten everything down, and start back up, and nothing. No beeps, no video, no nothing. Should i do an out of case build? I was going to do it, but i was confused because i got video at first, then it went away. Please help me, why did my video go away??? Thanks so much in advance.....Josh |

Do the out-of-case build first. That'll eliminate a short as the problem.

I was just there. Had that same problem with an HTPC build a few days ago. If the HD is SATA, check the motherboard box for a floppy drive with SATA drivers. If it's IDE and you are using round cables, check the jumper on the HD. If it's on Cable Select to Master / Primary.
