New builder w/ Software issue....

I finished building the entire computer using a guide I found on this site, and I booted it up set all the BIOS to default and whatnot, because half of them I dont know what they really mean. After this I saved my seetings and put in my Windows XP disc to set it up, It came on once and said no dirvers were installed. Now the computer wont read any discs it seems, the screen just stays black with the little ( _ ) after it goes through BIOS.

Anyone know what to do?

Thanks

Need to go back into the BIOS and set a CD or DVD drive as the first boot device. Then load the XP disc in the drive and restart the copmuter. It should start XP install.

Also, could you please post the complete system specs for this computer. List the parts by brand and model including the power supply. Thanks.

ok, I did as you said to do and it started to work going thru configuring windows and what not and when I want to press setup for windows, it says that there isnt a HDD installed int he computer & to make sure its setup correctly and I have checked many times.

Im going to take out the HDD again and double check but I have the cable from the Power Supply running to it and a red sata cord from the HDD to the Motherboard connecting each other.

Parts list :

Are you connecting the SATA HDD to the right SATA connector on the motherboard? You should be using SATA1.

Does your WinXP Home CD have SP1 or SP2? If it doesn't you'll need to load the SATA controller driver from a floppy disk during the early part of the WinXP installation process before you can continue with the actual installation of the OS.

Well it says the windows is SP 2 and I had the HDD connected to the Sata Raid 2 post but I see not Sata Raid 1, but regular sata 1-4 so I stuck it in the 1.

Also when I ordered the HDD it came with no drivers or disks, just the HDD by itself from newegg.

Going to try it now though.

Edit:

Awesome! It worked thanks alot for the quick replies and help .
