Slow responding new build

was building my first build at when I turned it on everything responded really slowly. It took forever to move a highlighted choice in the bios. So I installed windows and still was slow. The mouse doesn't respond at all. So I RMA'd my motherboard, got it replaced and the problem is still occuring. I noticed that the motherboard 24-pin connector has one slot empty. Could that be the problem? Thanks

That power supply has an extra 4 pin connector, so it can be used on older motherboards and carried over when the owner upgrades, which is why it's 20+4pin.
If you're just using the 20 pin then that's your problem.
I'm surprised the computer booted at all.
This is what you should be seeing with the power connector : http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowIm...ply+%2D+Retail
Go find the other 4 pin connector.

Pam, I think he'd talking about the fact that therea re only 23 wires going into the 24-pin connector. This topic has come up before.

IWANTHOTDOG:
  1. I've closed your duplicate thread.
  2. The missing pin is normal. It shouldn't affect the speed of the computer at all.
  3. Check your temperatures in the BIOS and report them here.

Yes, on re-reading it I think you're right.
