So here's my problem.
I assembled the motherboard, ram, cpu, and vidoecard. I put the motherboard in the case and plugged everything in, double checked all connections and prepared for the first boot without any drives. First boot was a success, memory and cpu were readable, so far so good. So i continue on with the build and install the dvd, floppy and hard drive. I go to power on and nothing. I double checked all connections, still no luck. So i start the trouble shooting process by going back to the setup on the first boot. I turn on the power and nothing just fans spinning, no beeps no nothing. I've taken the motherboard out, reseated the cpu, the memory ,the video card, tried the steps in the sticky on the first page still nothing. Here's a list of my components, everything is brand new. Asus A8N-SLI premium AMD 64 3500 Crucial ballistik 512 mb ram x2 XFX GeForce 7900 GT Antec Sonata II case Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

First, welcome to PCMech.
Second, thanks for doing the out of the case guide before posting. That helps us help you a lot. What power supply is in this set-up? Since the troubleshoting rebuild didn't catch it, my first guess is your PSU isn't powerful enough and that's the problem. If it's the one that comes with the Sonata I would say that will be it.

yeah, the power supply is the one that came with the sonata. It's a 450 watt Antec smatpower. Since it worked the first time could this really be the problem. I don't have an extra power supply hanging around so how can i test this?

That power supply is plenty powerful for a single video card.
