MoBo for Pentium D930

Just build an AMD system - thanks to the great recommendations from the board here. For some personal reason I need to build an Intel system - but have no clue about the motherboard to choose. Which ones are good? What is the recommended memory?

This is the CPU I want to work with:

Intel Pentium D 930 800MHz FSB LGA 775 Dual Core Processor - Retail

Any feedback would be welcome.

The Abit AW8 is a good choice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813127209

The Asus P5LD2 is a good one too: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131538

The proper ram is DDR2-533. This is a good choice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145526

The specs for the motherboard say DDR2-667. Why do you say the proper ram is DDR2-533?

The motherboard supports DDR2-667. But you would only need that if you are overclocking. The best match for a Pentium D with an 800mhz FSB is DDR2-533. Using anything higher with that chip at stock speed is a waste of money because performance suffers slightly.

About the motherboard, do you plan on doing any overclocking? If so, the only decent overclockers atm are the Abit AW8, AW8 MAX, AW8D. Or my personal fav the ASUS P5WD2. But if you want bang for your buck the abit aw8 isnt a bad choice at all, it has been having a few quirks but its been doing ok. p5ld2 is also great for no ocing.
Same goes for ram, you dont need higher then ddr2533 if not ocing, but if so go for the 667.
