Question Operating system?

Hello guys
Just a quick question.
When you build a new computer do you have to BUY a new OS every time??
I have an Windows XP proffesional cd so can i just use that instead of buying a new copy of it for my new build??

Proberbley seems like a silly question but i was just wondering coz everyone seems to be buying a new one for every build.

One computer per liscense - so yes, you'll need a new OS for a new computer. You can't use the same liscense on multiple computers.

If your XP Pro CD is retail or unrestricted OEM, you can install it on a new computer if you remove it from the existing computer.

You won't be able to activate it (either way I think you'd have to call MS and tell them your story and they'll activate for you).

It is sold as one copy (liscence) per computer, as it says in the liscense agreement, so that's how you have to use it.
