New AMD build advice

Hi,

Due to my current machine being a bit out-of-date, I have decided to build my second computer.

My aim here is to have a multi-purpose computer with an interest in gaming, music recording (using external soundcard which I already have), programming (for the occasional night when I have been slack at work) and general computer use (Internet, Office apps etc).

Anyway, I have done some research and designed a computer which to me seems pretty good. I based my last build on the opinions given from users here, and I had no troubles whatsoever. So I am asking here again knowing that I will get good advice.

Here are the parts I have picked at this stage:

Case: Thermaltake Aguila Silver
CPU: AMD X2 Dual Core 4400+
M/B: Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
Memory: CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB)
Graphics card: 7906-BLISS 7900GT 512MB GS
HDD: Seagate 250GB 7200rpm SATAII 16MB
PSU: Antec Truepower II 550W
OS: Windows XP Home

I'm using my current monitor (Samsung SyncMaster940N), DVD burner, floppy disk drive (well I got one here if I need it), mouse, keyboard and speakers.

How does this build look (part choice and compatibility)? And am I missing anything?

I picked the motherboard due to its good reviews and possibility of using SLI in the future.

Looks good. Since you say that you might use SLI in the future, go with an SLI board (but keep in mind that SLI does little more than give you bragging rights for the most part). If you do want to do SLI, make sure that PSU is SLI-certified.

Looks like a solid build to me. It will be very speedy and handle any game out there. My personal preference would be to have 2gb of ram, I noticed a huge decrease in game load times when I went from 1gb to 2gb of ram.

The mobo is an SLI mobo and the psu is sli certified.
