New Build, Comp Freezing :*(
I completed my first build recently.
Everything was working fine. However halfway through installing NORTON ANTI-VIRUS I canceled the installation and tried to uninstall what was there. however it still was showing up on my programs list and I couldnt get rid of it. After this my computer started freezing, I started rebooting and it still kept freezing. So I reformatted with windows xp, that SEEMS to have fixed the prob. No freezes for 3 days.. I thought it might have been overheatting my system idles at 33 degrees Celcius, Is that hot for a computer. Can Norton Anti-Virus ruin Systems? Im very worried, its my first build and I put 700$ into it so far. Something Else im worried about; when I applied the grease to the CPU (which the heatsink goes over) A section of the cpu wasn't completely white with grease as shown in the picture, it had a layer of grease over it, just not enough for it to be completely solid white, I did my best to spread it evenly but It just seems as if I didn't get enough grease in the small tube that came with it. Could that cause my comp. to freeze when it did?? Any help appreciated, thank you! |

Actually, too much grease is worse than not enough. Spread it out REAL thin and even. 33C at idle is VERY nice and cool.
Norton can do some REALLY nasty things - I'd recommend you forget about it and put AVG Free on it. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5 |
