Question New build isn't working

I just got a barebones kit from Tiger Direct:
Abit UL8 with
AMD 64 3200+
1GB PC3200 DDR400 RAM (2x512)
nVidia GeForce 5500+
Okia 450 Watt PS

I installed everything, plugged it all in, etc etc. Attached the monitor and turned it on, but there's no signal, and no beeps from the speaker. All the fans work though.

So I tried doing what was suggested in the sticky thread up top: taking it out and interchanging the RAM and video card, but still no signal. Any ideas? Is there a chance I have a defective motherboard?

This is my first time building my own PC.

Doublecheck all of the connections on the motherboard. You should have a main ATX power plug, which would be 20 or 24 pins in size. There is also an alternate 12V power plug (a 2x2 block), which plugs in somewhere near the CPU.

If your grapics card needs power, make sure it is getting power from the PSU.

Edit:
the Monkey's Uncle, I just read your other thread, and you are plugging in the connectors wrong.

The 2x2 block (12V alternate power) is meant for another separate connector coming from the PSU. It is not connected to the 20/24 pin ATX power.

I'd question that Okia power supply - it's a cheap piece of junk. You can't get a quality 450 watt unit for the 20 bucks they are listing it for. Tiger is famous for selling barebones kits with garbage components.
