looking for new build
i am looking to build new computer. Not first time builder, but been out of this for a while now so not sure which processor to go with etc.
Main thing will be done is gaming/video editing. Budget is around 1500-1700 looking to go with intel(i know amd is better for gaming but i like intel) would you recommend dual cpu? also go with ddr or dd2? What video card would you recomend. Basically i need all the parts including the monitor as my current comp will to be used. |

Dual core and DDR2 are both the way of the future. Most games (and programs, soon) are being released with support of dual core, and DDR prices are poised to increase, as AMD brings its AM2 motherboards to full production.
Plus, DDR2 sounds cooler, 'cause there's a two next to it ( )As for processors, it's entirely up to you. You'll need to overcome that step before we can pick out parts for you, but on the other hand, why let us have all the fun? Picking out computer components is one of the best parts

I'd get a 9xx series Pentium-D dual core, and probably an Asus P5LD2 motherboard. Go as strong a video card as budget allows, and make sure the case you choose has a QUALITY ATX 2.0-spec power supply, or get a case with no power supply and a decent power supply separate. This will be DDR2, and DDR2-533 is good enough unless you will be overclocking - then get DDR2-667.
