Power Problems with a new build

Heres what I am using:
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI
AM2 4200+ x2 CPU
Antec true power 2.0 550 watt

Here is the problem:

When I press the power button, it turns on, all fans kick on but it shuts off after around 5 to 7 seconds, no beeps, no screen display because it shuts off too quick and no odd noises.

Here is what I have done so far to try and figure things out: Re mounted the cpu and HS/fan I have taken it out of the case and placed it on carboard, shorted the power pins, remounted the cpu/hs again, reapplied thermal paste both times, and im still stuck in the same spot. Powers on 5 seconds or so then off. I have tried it with no hd's or optical drives or video card hooked up, 1 stick of ram, 2 sticks of ram, only the motherboard power hooked up, everything hooked up and all the same results. Anyone have any suggestions on what to try or what might be the problem?

Each time you applied thermal compound, did you clean off the old stuff?
Got the aux 4 pin power connector connected to the mother board(up by the I/O ports)?

Yup cleaned it all off and reapplied, just got the power problem solved, I took out the bios battery and then moved a jumper to clear the bios according to mobo manual; no more power outages. New problem: no video to my monitor now for some reason.

Depending on the video card you are using, there will be an aux power connection to the video card that needs to be made.
Also, if the video card has 2 outputs, one may be inactive by default.

Hmm sounds similar to my problem

This sounds really similar to my problem with the exception that my computer boots goes through the BIOS and after what appears to be a random amount of time powers off. Everything fans, lights, hard drive just cuts out. It's not a temperature problem because the computer ran for a whole week with out any trouble. The only thing I did different before the power off, was leave the computer on overnight and even then I turned my fan speed up one click. Can anyone give me a clue as to what I need to do to correct this problem?

Been getting help from someone else on another forums, sounds like it might be a ram problem, it appears that this motherboard is very picky with its ram and OCZ isnt even supported by them, only kingston, a-data, micron, infenion, and hynix are
