First build done. One problem

I finished my first build and installed everything. The only problem I have is the it takes 3 or 4 restarts to boot up. Everytime I installed a program and restarted it would just sit on the screen with the options to get into setup, etc. I have to hit the power butten and shut down 2 or 3 times before it will actually boot up. Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions on how to fix?

I installed a Mach Speed Matrix P4M800 Socket 478 Motherboard, Intel 340 2.93 533FSB processor. Windows 2000 Professional.

Thanks in advance

I installed two IDE drives. First jumpered as the master and the second set as the slave. The Hard Drives are set to channel 0. The Cd drives are set to channel 1.
The only boot device I have active is the master hard drive. I didnt change any jumpers on the motherboard. Thanks

If you are using an Ultra ATA 80 wire cable, jumper both drives on it to CS (cable select). Master goes on the end, slave in the middle, make sure you plug the correct end into the motherboard - it's usually blue or some other non-black or gray color, the master end being black.

I changed cords and made sure it was connected right. It seemed to help initial bootup. It only failed to boot up once out of about ten trys. I still cant hit ctrl alt delete and have the system reboot for me. It stops at the initial screen where you can hit delete to get into setup. Could I have some setting wrong?
