Old Hard drive new computer... Help!!!

Okay I just built my new computer last night. ECS RX480-A motherboard, and some other stuff... Anyway I'm trying to use one of the harddrives from my old comps to run my new setup. I have to hdds both with xp. One comes up with the blue screen of death (windows critical error will shutdown automatically...) and the other when I try to boot it says it could not find windows\inf\biosinfo.inf
so I gave up on the first harddrive because I just have no clue, but the second I put back on my other comp, went under windows and found the biosinfo.inf I thought I would be smart and create a folder called inf and copy the biosinfo.inf into that, but for some reason windows won't let me create this folder (says duplicate) even though no folder or even file entitled inf even exists. (Wait it could be hidden forgot to check). But that is where I am now, I'm going to go mess around with it some more but I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thx!

Your old hard drives are going to be looking for the old hardware that matches the drivers that are installed on each of them. That's why the problem. To overcome this, you need to boot with your XP CD and do a repair/install of XP. This should not change any installed programs or mess up any documents. Check in the Tips and Tricks for a How To by Gary Routh.
