New Build Problems
Ok, I just recently finished my new build (specs below) and I seem to be having two major problems:
My 2gigs of RAM is only being read as 1gig Randon cumputer crashes For the RAM, I double checked everything that I thought to be the problem. The specs for the MoBo says that it supports up to 4gigs of RAM. I pulled up the part number on teh corsair website and verified that is was, indeed, 2gig of RAM. I dunno what else I should be looking for now. About the random crashes... the only thing I installed on the comp is winamp, lime wire and World of Warcraft. I'll try to play a video or an audio file and the compy will crash... I try to log onto WoW and the comp crashes... I dunno what to do. I think maybe it has something to do with the RAM, but I dunno. Any suggestions? WinXp Home w/sp2 AMD Athlon 64 3000+ ECS KN1 Lite 2Gig Corsair CMX1024-3200C2PT BFG GF7800 GS OC 256MB AGP Graphics Card Antec 350W SmartPower ATX12V power supply |

Is that ram listed as compatible with that motherboard on either the Corsair configurator or the ECS site?

Your PSU might be a little light for that card, causing the crashes. I believe NVIDIA suggests either a 400 or 450 watt PSU with that card (can't remember which for sure).

Re:....
I checked the the corsair website and I can't find my MoBo... I looked up the compatible RAM for the ECS KN1 Extreme and the RAM I got is on the list... so now what do I do?

re:...
Ok... took the RAM back to Fry's... found out it was 512, not 1gig (like the packaging stated). I got the RAM exchanged and bought a new 500w PSU. I tried to run WoW and as soon as the app began to run, I got a memory error. I restarted the app and my compy crashed...
I'm going to try one more time and see if I get any errors, prolly post some screenshots if/when I do get another error. |

Quality is more important then quantity. 500w is plenty, but what brand did you buy?
You can test your ram with this: http://www.memtest.org/ Be sure to let it run for a long time, overnight is best. |

Uninstall your video driver and install the latest Nvidia Forceware drivers.

the PC's performance increased dramitically when i got the bugged RAM out and put in the good coarsair RAM that i origionally purchased but when i played games that put pressure on the GPU and the 3D rendering it crashes, i made sure that i had direct X 9 installed. I formated both partions of my 300g HD and did disk check and defrag and dont know where to look for more answers at thsi point ;/ |

Uninstall the current drivers and clean up after them with Driver Cleaner Pro before installing the new drivers. |
