Power button broke, need new wire?

The power switch on my computer kept falling out of the case, so I would just open the side and hit it with my finger, well time and time I kept doing this, and sooner or later you think it would break right? Well it did. The wires broke off the solder on the switch, so I soldered them back on best I could, and now when I plug the switch into my MOBO the computer will turn on but then turn right off, unless I turn it on, then pull the wire out of my MOBO.

Is there any other way I can turn on my PC without the switch, like a button itself on the MOBO? If so...how? Thanks!

Can I buy a new power switch for my computer at any local computer store, or do I have to order one from MSI?

MOBO is a Neo2 Platinum

-Mike

sounds like you soldered it wrong and now there's a short. You can try getting a new switch from a electronics store and rewiring the wire from the mobo to it, or better yet bring the switch and your old wire(the one from the switch to the mobo) to the electronic store and see if the technician there will do it for you. It should only take him 5 minutes.

If your case has a reset button, just pull that lead off the posts and put it on the power switch posts and use the reset button as the power switch.

You would get a new switch and lead assembly from Thermaltake, not MSI.

I totally ripped out a bunch of old wires and junk in my computer, made it so you see ZERO wires, and it just looks really nice. I also did the reset switch thing, and it works like a charm

thanks alot.
