Getting started
What do you guys think about this
http://dealnews.com/deals/Dell-Dimen...ed/122783.html Start out with this system and upgrade it as the finances allow. It will be used for three things, internet, playing music and games (age of empires 3, W.O.W. and the like). Would I be limited on my upgrades or would I be better of waiting until the new pent comes with the price drops and just build one from scratch. |

With any storebought PC, you are going to be limited in your upgrades. One bottleneck is usually the PSU: they only put a big enough unit in there to power what the computer comes with, not something strong enough to power the latest video cards.
In general, I think that you should only go the storebought route if you want a PC that you will not be upgrading, aside from maybe throwing in more memory. If you are looking for a computer that you will be upgrading as finances allow, build your own. |

building your own is the way to go. That way you get exactly what you want and it's cheaper to if you have the disipline not to over spend. For my first build most of the people on this site were a lot of help. If you have a price range in mind and I see you want a multi media\ gaming rig just ask what everybody here recommends. Also you can use this link to help you build the computer if this is your first build.
