Having a PSU that looks cool is no good when it dies and takes half your components with it.

The mobo you want is PCI-E but the vid card you have now is AGP so you have to get a new vid card and yes you need a vid card with that mobo.

In addition to the AGP-PCI-E problem you have, if you intend on building with an nVidia GeForce 6600, you're better off saving money by scraping the ATI Crossfire motherboard. I recommend the Asus A8N5X or the A8N32-Sli, depending on whether you would want the SLI option later on.

If it's plain PCI, the PCI-E / AGP thing won't be a problem. PCI-E boards tend to have at least one PCI slot.
The motherboards kram suggested don't have onboard video. You still have to provide the video card. He suggested dropping the Crossfire board because that is to run dual ATi cards, and if you are using an nVidia card there's no sense in spending the extra cash in something you can't use anyways. Also, Crossfire/SLI is for PCI-E cards anyways. Any PCI video card is going to be a weak gamer. You'll want to consider upgrading to a PCI-E card now, or in the near future (if you intend to game).

4gigs is a lot of RAM. 2gigs is plenty. If you ever need more ram in the future(which would probably be a long time from now)then get the extra ram. I have 2 gigs and barely use 50% of it when i'm gaming with a firewall, anti-virus, and spyware protection running at the same time

4GB is overkill. I would stick with 2GB. But if you want to leave the option open, you could get 2X1GB instead of 4x512.

That case it pretty crazy looking. The psu that comes with it most likely will be no good but if you dump that one and go with the psu you stated above that would work fine

You don't have a graphics card in your updated list. In response to your updated first post - Yes, you will need a video card. The DFI Lanparty does not come with onboard video.
Please note that" PCI is different from AGP. AGP is different from PCI-E. PCI-E is different from PCI If you're intending to build a gaming machine, I do not recommend you choose PCI for a graphics card. |
