not sure whats going on please help..
I first had a problem where I didnt get a display I found that my RAM wasnt compatible by following this post http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409 and trying another stick well I got a display and everything was fine till I attempted to assemble it in my case. then I go to power it up and fans start to kick on for abit then it kicks off.. this is my first build and has been a mess. I found this forum by trying to toubleshoot it.. here are the specs for my comp if anyone could offer advice!
Mobo: Gigabyte ga-8i865gme-775 Cpu: Pentium 4 630 3ghz Video card: ATI ALl in wonder 2006 edition AGP RAM: buffalo tech ddr400 psu: Okia 550w Hdd: seagate 250gb sata |

Check that you don't have any extra standoffs installed under the motherboard.

The ususal reasons for what you describe are a heat problem, the heatsink/fan isn't correctly attached, or the motherboard shorting out to the case.
Extra stand-offs, as Jay says, are one reason but it could be shorting out on the I/O shield as well. Your other problem, if not now then sometime in the ( probably near ) future, is that Okia power supply.
