That looks good to me. The Viewsonic VX922 has some postive reviews, as do most Dell LCDs.

Don't forget Windows XP.

You could save a bit on the RAM with Value Select at $165 or this XMS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145486 which is only $129 after rebate.

Thank you for your reply. Is that video card okay or would a ATI Radeon x1800XT 256MB be a better choice?

The 7900GT is a great bang for the buck for a gaming machine. And eVGA is a high-quality brand. I would stick with it.

Great. Thank you, very much.
One more question. The Hard Drive is an OEM should I go with retail instead? I'm not sure what the oem means.

OEM just stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Basically with OEM drives you get the drive and any needed driver software and that's about it. With retail you get the pretty box and a little more in the way of instruction booklets and whatnot. Not usually worth the price in my opinion, unless you're talking about retail vs oem with a processor (cpu), because retail processors have alot better warranty than the oem ones, which basically get squat for a warranty. I could be wrong, but I don't think hard drives are like that. (Someone will correct me if I'm wrong I hope). Oh, one more thing, you already got a modem??.....I didn't see one listed. Just a thought.

OEM hard drives still have a warranty. That Western Digital has a 3yr. Your motherboard will come with a SATA cable to hook it up, so you're fine to stay with OEM.

If you are on Dial-up you'll need a 56k modem...but if your on DSL or Cable, etc, you are set to go. The motherboard has onboard LAN.

Thanks Alaron. I knew processors were way different, but I wasn't sure about the hard drives.

You might want to look at one of the Antec cases that come without a power supply and see if one of them has the features you want.
Likely to be less expensive than the Sonata II with a PSU you aren't going to use..
You are likely to need a floppy drive at some point in the setup.
Samsung has some nice monitors for pretty good prices too.

You may want to rethink an Antec psu. I also have the Sonata which is a great case. But the psu was substandard.

Are you talking about the SP-II 450W in the Sonata II? Antec makes quality PSU...you won't have problems with it (provided you're not running a high end dual video card setup).

The Sonata PSU is fine - the card you chose only requires 400w and 20 amps on +12v and it's 450w with 32 amps on +12v (dual rail).

Thank you all for your input.
So, the Antec PSU's are okay. I'm a little confused on that now.I was going to get a ANTEC TruepowerII 550 and keep the one that comes with the case for a spare in case I ever need it. I was looking at Enermax, but since I won't be running two video cards I didn't think I would need that one. I had read in another post that ANTEC was a good PSU.

I think the one with the Sonata will be good for a single card (as glc said above). The Truepower II 550 is another dandy of a choice too, but I don't think it's necessary. If you want to get it and keep the Sonata's as a spare, you could do that too, but you don't need to.

OK Thank you. Someone said I will need a floppy drive. What kind should I get? I looked for a liteon, because that's the DVD/CD drives I'm getting, and couldn't find one.

The only time you *might* need one is during set-up. If you don't think you'll ever use it regularly, you could always borrow one from an older PC if you end up needing it. Pretty much anything you might need to do with it can be done with a CD-R or even a USB flash drive. Otherwise, I would think any floppy would work. They're only $7-$10, so it probably won't make much diffference and wouldn't be a total waste to get one. I'm not sure if one particular brand is better than others.
