How to format a new hard drive
I am curently buildinding a new PC and i bought a new SATA HD to go with it. The hard drive is blank and i bought a new copy of XP Home to install on it. Can anyone walk me through the process of formatting it and getting everything set up? Thanks

Just boot with the XP CD and go into Setup. It will do all that for you.

You will probably need to start your machine, enter the BIOS and change the boot order so that the machine boots from CD first, before you reboot the machine put your XP CD in the CD drawer and restart the machine.
When the machine reboots it will go straight to the XP installation screen and it is as easy as glc says just follow the instructions on screen. What type of internet connection do you have?

The only reason I ask about the internet connection is that you can activate Windows quickly and easily whilst doing the personal setup part at the end of the installation., just saves a little time and stops that annoying activation popup.
