PC beeps then shuts down soon after startup
Hey there, I bought a new heatsink but there is a problem. I know the heatsinks are difficult to install for the 775 but i have tried over and over agan. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I used thermal paste but took some off thinking I put a little too much
help! |

Check the pins on your CPU. If that's all good, start taking things off until you get a good POST.

What trick is proposing is to do a minimal build, which is to take out all of the non-essential parts, and try booting from there.

I assume you know that using a non-Intel heatsink/thermal pad voids the warranty on the processor.
When applying thermal compound, you want a very thin coating. If you were able to take some off, you had too much.
