Recomendations and Advice!
Hay guys, I have finally got enough money to up my computer rig as of now. Tommarow is my bday so that helps too lol. My current rig has a 5500 rpm maxtor hardrive that only has 60 gigs of space. This computer is strictly going for a gaming rig. I have 512 mb of ram only, not even the good ram may I add lol. My monitor hurts my eyes alot, even with alot of breaks. It is maxed out on fps at 60, no more than 60 and has horrible viewing. Stair step effect everywhere, and is just old and dieng on me. I was a monitor with Dvi connectivity for the port com's right? Also should I buy ram or a new hard drive? Because when i borrowed my freinds ram at 1.5 gigs it still dragged. Ill put a link on here as of what im looking at.
Monitor is below http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1138083975957 http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/produ...&cm_keycode=85 And the ram is Kingston (says Value ram on the bottom too) is that good or should I got for a diffrent kingston type of ram or what? The hardrive is a Maxtor 100 gb Serial Ata ultra interface, but I want sata. Would sata be worth the trouble. thanks for your time guys =D. |

Sata is probably worth the trouble. Serial ata = Sata. Your HDD is probably the limiting factor in your system right now, though it probably won't hurt for you to rack up another 512mb of ram.

Well I think im just going to upgrade the hdd anyway and give away the old one or something. Its 5 years old and due is slow. Ive had western digital before, they always lasted for about a year max for me...so maxtor man I am. My monitor needs to be replaced too what do you say about that?

I think monitors are a very personal preference, so you might want to take a physical look at them at the store or something.. The 17" is definitely cheaper, and you might not notice the difference in size (that said, I own a 19" myself..). Doing that also allows you to check for any bright/dead pixels before bringing it home if you decide to buy from a store.
By the way, if you do decide to run multi-monitor setups in the future, you might want to buy from a line that doesn't look like it'll discontinue soon.. so you can get matching ones. Last edited by Sousuke; 07-04-2006 at 01:55 AM. |
