New build, gone wrong

Greetings!

Bit of a trouble shoot here...

Specs

• ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
• PNY VCG7600GXPB Geforce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail
• CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model TWINX2048-3200 - Retail
• AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 2000MHz HT Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3700BNBOX - Retail

included is a case with a crap powersupply that I already deemed DoA.... WD SATA3 harddrive, and cdrom.

Now, upon boot up, I have a completely blank screen. Everything is running fine. But note, I am borrowing a 350watt psu. Card requires 300watt min.

Now, I let it run, the monitor gets no singal. (orange light instead of green). Monitor functions, worked great on older pc.

I do not get any system beeps at all. Shouldn't I get atleast one at the BIOS screen?

Does this mean I either have
1. a dead vidcard too
2. a dead processor
3. a dead mobo
4. underpowering it with this borrowed psu. (though I would think I would get atleast to the bios screen...)

Now, I have reseated, and double checked everything to make sure my power connectors are fully seated. They are.

Should I try flashing the BIOS on the mobo back to factory? Please note, I have not even gotten it to boot up ONCE yet, to the bios screen. I'm stuck right now with no output.

Or have I somehow goofed elsewhere, or do I have another DoA.

What brand/model is this borrowed PSU? Does it have a 24 pin main connector and a PCI-E cable (even if not necessary with that card)?

Don't do anything with flashing...you wouldn't be able to do that if it's not booting. If you mean resetting the CMOS by unpluging and pulling the battery, then, I'd say try it. Not sure if it'd help, but it's worth a whirl.

nothing.

The computer does not give any beeps.

Here is what I have tried.

Only the powersupply (350watts) hooked up to the mobo, cpu, and memory in.
*note* videocard is out*
I get NO beeps at all. Does this indicate a bad CPU? Because I should get 2 beeps at post indicating a video error.

No beeps..... OIE, I want some beeps!

Could be the motherboard or the CPU... or it could be that the borrowed PSU isn't that great either.

Yes, I knew id find a post that had the same Problem as i had

I got that same stupid 'Black screen' Nothing showed up after the computer was turned on

That motherboard requires not only a 24 pin power supply, but it has aux connectors too - if you don't plug those in it won't start. You are going to need a power supply anyway - so order up an Antec TPII-550, it's the cheapest decent SLI-certified power supply out there.

I got some help from my dad he found problems with my build

1. Video card wasnt fully put in
2. Video Card blocked one of the ram things ram wasnt plugged in all the way
3. Motherboard Jumpers werent set to Celeron CPU
4. AMD Chip in other Motherboard may have cooked the other other motherboard or even cooked the AMD Chip

We figured out the AOpen MX34 board. The board was dead, after fixing the jumpers and the not-so-plugged in hardware we got it to start but it beeped constanly and my dad says that means the board is dead.

The AOpen MK33 board I couldnt get it to post and the DDR266 board with the 1.8ghz amd chip was messed up. The computer didnt make a noise, but the 1.8 amd chip did, it made humming sorta noise so in a panic I turned it off and im just not gonna bother with it.

Anyways Im just gonna forget these old crappy computers and work on this brand new P4 board my dad gave me. All I need is a cpu chip and a suitable fan --- any pointers on what I should buy??

By AUX connectors, you are referring to the 2x2, and normal 12volt accessory connector, correct?

These are plugged in.

What some of my other computer guys think is this:

Since I can't even get to any POST, where I should be given beeps to indicate memory error, or video error, that the system just isn't booting up. This is caused by a faulty CPU.

CMOS has been reset in two attempts.
Computer put together 3 times, and twice out of the case.
Attempted to run with Videocard out gave NO beeps.

Thus, CPU error?

RMA soon enough I'm guessing. And yes, a new Power supply unit. That exact one was what I was planning on. This is a build for a friend, and he had "budget" issues. And asked me if we could just get one of those case/psu combos. I didn't like the idea, but alas, oh well. He learned from his mistake, trying to cheep out alittle cash hurt him in the long run :-)

I hope this solves my issue. Problem is, I cannot test any of these parts in my computer, as it is 6 hours away, and this 'friend' is too lazy to drive up to me so I can assess everything.

I posted that top stuff because It helped me, i figured it could help Moon-Guardian and the other stuff I posted was later after I fixed those problems with the boards so Moon-Guardian could see the results of what happened to my boards. That post i made wasnt entirely about my stuff it was to help Mon-Guardian anyway i could so please dont say im crapping over other peoples threads, im just trying to help with what ive figured out

Thank god i came to this form I tried to do the PSU/ Case combo thing, and was quickly taught not to do so thanks PCmech community
