Building my first computer

Hey all, i'm new to these forums, so hello.

I want to build my own computer and I have these six links so far:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148105

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145526

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827136085

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103531

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102682

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16856101113

all this comes out to $660.94 + shipping which is about $40.

what i need is for someone to tell me:
-if all those things will work together and be compatible.
-do i have to buy anything else do get my computer running
-do you recommend upgrading/downgrading to something other than what i have for a reasonable price
-anything else you want to tell me!

thanks!

I would be a little suspect on the PSU that comes with the case, would get a good brand like Enermax,Antec,Forton.
You will need an OS, XP Home is around $80 for OEM version.

I recommend you drop the barebones kit, and buy a separate Case, Power Supply and Motherboard. You can get better quality this way, and more suitable features. For example, the power supply included with the case is likely to be unistable, and the included motherboard has on-board video (unnecessary, since you're buying a video card).

I'd get this motherboard...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131569

...and this case/PSU combination

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129155

The case comes with a rear 120mm fan, which should be plenty.

Your other parts, including the new memory pick, looks good. Just out of interest, compare the price with a 250GB model. That capacity is in the 'sweetspot' right now, and you might find that you can get it for only a little more than the 160gb unit you chose.

I would go with a hard drive with a 16Mb cache for a little better performance. Here is a Western Digital on sale for 5 bucks less than the Seagate you linked.

Why would you want to get a motherboard with on-board video when you're buying a dedicated graphics card? It's a waste paying the extra for on-board video when you won't be using it.

I'd recommend you stick with the A8N5X. It will work fine with an ATI graphics card.

That is true, but It shouldn't give you any problems. The Nvidia chipset is the best to use for an AMD build, regardless of the graphics card you use.

In the real world, you will never notice a difference in the speeds. But, the A8N-E is essentially the same board with 3Gb/s SATA. It just costs a bit more: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131530
