Quick question - PSU

What is the difference between the PSU's on Newegg that are "24-pin" and "20 + 4 pin"? My mb has a 24-pin connector.

24pin is a permanent 24pin connector, whereas the 20+4 pin can be 24pin for 24pin based mobo's or just remove the optional 4 pin for 20 pin systems.

And a lot of the 20 + 4 models aren't up to the specs for ATX 2.0 needed for modern motherboards.
What specific motherboard are you planning on using?
That will determine whuch PSU is appropriate.

Ok. You are going to need an ATX 2.0 PSU.
Decent brands would include Antec, FSP, Sparkle, Enermax and a few others.
Size depends on what other hardware you are using, in particular the video card.
If you post a parts list someone can give you a more specific reccommendation.

I had picked out a 350 watt Sparkle PSU that already had a 24 pin connector, but i had noticed the XClio 450 Watt 20+4 pin was cheaper, and I know both are reliable brands. This is a build list for a friend, not my own. I had put a Geforce 7600 GT video card on the list along with Sony DVDROM and DVDRW. I also put a Pentium D 3.0 GHz processor.

The XClio is probably the best PSU for the price. Fortron/Sparkles are excellent but I think I'd want a bit more than 350 watts for that rig.
