New build

Would like a short list of the best Motherboards and processors for a new gaming system. Budget around $1200. Prefer an AMD based system. Thanks in advance

Despite the release of AM2, socket 939 would be my preference for an AMD build. AM2 is very new and showing memory compatibility issues.

For that budget, I'd get a dual core CPU, such as the 3800+, or 4200+, and put it in an ASUS A8N5X, or A8N-E motherboard.

Keep in mind that the video card is the most important part in determining a gaming system's performance.
