Total: 404.90
Grandtotal: 1277.83 If I get everything.

I'm not sure whether or not I can get a better video card for around the same price, or if that one is even worth getting. I'd be using this computer for playing games like Half Life 2, Age of Empires 3, Oblivion, and others. Most of all I'd just like to hear any suggestions or comments on it. I'll most likely wait for the price cut before I buy anything, if I even buy anything at all.

Thanks for any help.

That's a weak PSU (29 12V amps). I would look an Antec Truepowe II 550 (39 12V Amps). It costs a bit more, but it's well worth the power (and Antec is higher quality). In all honesty, you should buy a cheaper case. $150 seems a bit much for a case, but it's your money. I'd look for a $50 case (Thermaltake has some) and through another $100 at the video card/PSU (especially considering you are playing Oblivion).

If you're waiting till the price cut, you might consider a 3800+ X2 at that point. Just something to consider.
I would suggest holding off on the sound card. I'd give the onboard sound a try and see how it goes for you.

was wondering for the 3800+ x2 should you use the socket 939 version or the am2? you should get that mouse or the mx510 if u want the blue or red, only diff is the selectable dpi they both read the same speed, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16823175103 saitek eclipse beautiful keyboard, if you want looks and a good feel get this, very responsive. case looks ok, but too expensive, should get lian-li if you gonna spend that knida money on a case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112024 . and this is the case i got cause i really wanted one that had the side window and fans and the dark blue looks even better in person http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811156020

Socket AM2 is a part of AMD's next generation of CPU sockets. I would go with AM2 which allows you to take advantage of DDR2 memory. DDR2 runs at higher clock frequencies while drawing less power than DDR memory.

It's VERY picky about RAM and you must get DDR2-800 (more so with the higher end models) which is more expensive, and you'll need to do some research on the RAM you pick out. ASUS has QVL on their site for download that lists compatible modules.

I disagree. The theoretical performance advantage far exceeds the actual advantage. Secondly, the AM2's are having problems with memory controllers being VERY picky about ram compatability, and the list of QV for any mobo is very small. I would either wait to build with the AM2's, or build a nice system with a 939. Your choice.

I agree with blue on the PSU, go for the one he selected. Spend more on the vid card. Trust me, I love Oblivion but it IS a vid card hog. There are no systems, including top of the line SLI or Crossfire systems, that run the game with every setting maxed. It's a VERY demanding game. Spend the extra on the 7900GT blue picked out, or, if you don't mind ATI, go with the X1800XTX for similar money or the X1900XT for a little more. They will all play the gave very well with most of the eye candy on. JMO.

I was stating just from experience. I recently built a couple of systems for clients and myself with the AM2 platform and they run perfectly. I only had trouble on one of my boards (MSI K9N Neo F), but I flashed the bios with the newest revision and everything is good. I would go with ASUS if you want to go with the AM2 platform. Otherwise just stick to the socket 754 or socket 939 platform since the AM2 platform is relatively new and still may be buggy.

I'll probably go with the 7900GT and the X2 3800+. I found a cheaper case($76.00) that I thought has some nice features:
Thermaltake SViking VA4000BWS Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail

I'll probably stick with 939 since it seems cheaper, and I don't see any reason why to switch to AM2 yet.
