without knowing who makes the power supply in that case, i don't think you can trust it.

if you are going to buy a heatsink/fan, don't buy a retail CPU as it comes with one already. that being said, why not just use the one that comes with it? unless you are overclocking, you will be fine

don't know what kind of computer you had before, but if its a dell/hp/compaq/etc your XP disc will not work with it.

cd and dvd drives will be fine

for cable wraps, check out www.frozencpu.com but whats the point, there isn't a window in the case you picked out?

thanks for the speedy reply.

i have Dell 8100 which is exactly 5 years old. they were still giveing out OS reinstall discs when i bought it in 2001, i think its should work. if not, im gonna take this chance and get a WIN XP PRO 64 bit edtiion- IS that stable? reconmendated? to Ealry?

i think i will OC it so im gonna get a big heasink/fan. Will that work?

you are right about the cable wraps thing. but i just want nice air flow and organization. im also gonna pick up round IDE cables- are those ok to USe?

thanks

You cannot use a Dell reinstall disk. It's keyed to a Dell bios.

Is that ram on the QVL? If you are going to be overclocking an AM2, you need DDR2-800 or faster low latency ram, 667 even holds an AM2 back at stock speeds.

You should not plan on overclocking a budget machine. You need premium components, all the way from motherboard and ram to power supply and cooling. That power supply isn't going to be suitable for a stock clocked machine with onboard video, much less an overclocked machine with a video card. Just a proper power supply is $100, never mind the case.

I would invest my money in a better power supply. Why spend money on really good parts when your just going to skimp on the PSU? You said "I'll see when it breaks." Well, when it breaks, it could kill you other expensive components (cpu, mobo, etc.) along the way.

I 'reallly' wouldn't do that if I where you. When a junk PSU goes, it tends to take other parts with it. Spend the money on a quality power supply now.

I agree with that as its too much of a risk. i would rather spend more money, and not have to spend time and money down the line on something that could have been corrected before the build. As for your planned rig, its not going to be worth o'clocking, as u will need high end components all the way through. As for x64 win, stay away unless u are absolutely sure you want it. Because it can give you soo much hassle and complications. But if you really want it, dual boot with win pro 32bit, so you can use all the programs you want, but x64 can have several compatibility issues with it.
