Make sure the power supply connectors are hooked up properly to the motherboard.

Check the back of the PSU and make sure the switch is set to the "ON" position. The voltage is set to 115v and the obvious but sometimes missed, make sure it is plugged into the AC outlet.

Also double check your case/motherboard manual and make sure the Power Button/Switch on the case is hooked up to the correct headers on the motherboard.

And last but not least, make sure the PSU is working. If you have everything hooked up right but it still won't power on, see if swapping out the PSU with a working one will get it to power on.

It is also possible that your motherboard was DOA (Dead on Arrival) or even your processor. The only way you can find out is to swap them out. Try everything else first though before going to this step.

Blue gave you the link to the out of the case procedure. You need to do that and post back with the results. Make sure to take the motherboard OUT of the case entirely.

sry for the double post guys, but, i just noticed something that may be good, i was testing to see if my computer would power up in the dark, and i noticed a green light i looked in my computer and i seen a green LED light lighting up on my mobo, according to the mobo manual it says the light indicates the system is ON, in sleep mode, or in soft-off mode? I donno if that means anything good but i figured id post... obviously the mobo is getting power.

That motherboard LED means that the board has power running through it. It does not mean the system has booted. Post back with the results of the out of the case setup.

Yeah I would do what Alaron suggested and try the out of the case setup, it may have been possible that you grounded the motherboard or some other component at some point.

Also double check all of your connections. Are you sure you have both the MAIN 24-pin cable and the ATX12V 4-pin square cable from the PSU hooked up to the motherboard securely?

I think your problem lies in not hooking up the power switch on the case to the motherboard headers correctly but I could be wrong.

*** What you can do to is look at your motherboard manual and find the power headers on the motherboard and short them with a screwdriver or paper clip for a second and see if it powers on. If it does, you may have it connected wrong or maybe the wires going from the power button is loose.

Inspect ALL CONNECTIONS ! Look for loose or bent pins.

thank you for the replies, i have someone looking at it right now, im going to see what he has to say, if he cant find the problem im going to try the out of case procedure... i really hope i didnt short any parts or anything. I mean if the Mobo Led is turning on that means i have a working psu and mobo right?

Not necessarily. It just means that the MOBO is getting some power but it does not mean that the PSU or MOBO is working completely.

I built my brothers computer and it had same problem. I found where I put mother board in
and the plate in back protruded out enough I shorted mother board to ground. Repositioned
and tried all worked ok. Lucky plain lucky

alright guys according to the technician he says the i have a bad PSU, he said it was only giving 5volts or something weak voltage that was just strong enough to light up my LED. Now i guess i have to talk to newegg and see if i can get a new one.
