Question I Am So LOst

Can somebody please give me a noob understanable explantion on how to build a desktop using these configurations...

I also need directions on how to configure everything. And what's a system disk? And what is CMOS setup. I will be searching google helplessly while confusing myself even more in the strange and odd world of computers while waiting for an unsuspecting hero to emerge from the shadows and help me build this computer. That is all. Thank you...

I think I know what CMOS is. Is it the BIOS?

Oh Yea. I almost forgot. Please tell me if my soon to be desktop is compatible and workable.

Also, I'd like to I'm a very patient guy , but I waited 5 minutes so please hurrryyyy!!

Your doing it kinda backwards. First understand, then build
Start here:

And choose a better powersupply. Antec or Forton make great psu's in that range.
Choose something between 450-550W.

I would opt for a different brand of memory. Such as OCZ, G.Skill, Mushkin, Corsair.

I would also pick a different brand for your card. Evga, leadtek, or bfg for example.

No need for additional thermal compound as you stock heatsink will come with a thermalpad already attached, but nonetheless its something nifty to keep around the house.

Im not sure on the samsung hardrives, but I would personally go with a more known brand such as Seagate(recently bought out Maxtor) or Western digital.

Same goes for the sony cd rom. Get something from lite-on or NEC.

Have you bought these parts yet? First and foremost - the RAM you've got won't work. That board won't take DDR2 (DDR2-533 I think you had). You need DDR 400. DDR2 won't physically fit in the slot...also, I've got other suggestions (no incompatibility problems, other than the RAM that I can see), but if you've already ordered, no sense in making them...

EDIT: Mr Ferrari beat me to the punch on the other suggestions.

Not sure if the PSU is SLI certified but it does come with the 24-pin main connector which your motherboard requires. Either way, I would replace it with a quality (Fortron, Sparkle, Enermax, Enlight, Antec, PC Power and Cooling, and Thermaltake) 500w or more PSU to take care of future upgrades and in case you want to go with SLI.

Aspire is one of the worst brands on the market.
Their power supplys are junk and are liable to fry and take other parts with them.
They target the uninformed with their fancy looking glow in the dark and lights.
Generally any power supply with lights on it is very likely to be generic junk.
Stick with a quality manufacturer like the ones mentioned in the previous replies.

If the power supply doesn't support Sli does that mean it won't be compatible? Even thought the mobo is Sli ready I won't be using it for now.

If you want to keep the option open to add a second graphics card later on, it makes a lot of sense to get an SLI-Certified power supply now

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103931

If not, save some cash by getting a lower powered, but still quality unit.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104954

In this case, you could save further by getting a non-SLI motherboard, such as the ASUS A8N5X or A8N-E.

No need for fancy XMS RAM - you can get yourself some Value Select and save $30 or so and still have the same performance. The XMS RAM has slightly lower timings (which will give you no noticeable boost) and really only does you good if you are going to overclock...

Well, I got all my parts yesterday and now I'm going to attempt to build this thing. Wish me luck and I'd appreciate it if you experts could give me some advice.

See my advice in your other thread, which is likely to get closed since it's a cross post on the same subject. We encourage keeping things together for continuity
