My very first PC build

Hey everyone,

I've been reading up on this site and these forums a lot and I've decided to build my very first PC. So I went ahead and compiled a list of parts and such. Basically I am looking to build a stable, reliable, somewhat future-proof PC which I will use mainly for internet, work, music, movies and the occasional gaming. I don't need something top of the line (and expensive), just something near it so I won't have to upgrade too much in the future. Here's what I come up with:

Motherboard: Asus P5LD2 w/ DualDDR2, 7.1 Audio, Gigabit Lan, SATA II, PCI-E x16

Processor: Intel Pentium D Processor 930 w/ 2x2MB Cache, EM64T

Memory: Corsair ValueSelect 1GB PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM

Hard Drive: Western Digital 250GB Caviar SE16 7200rpm SATA II w/ 16MB Cache

Videocard: Sapphire Radeon X1600 Pro 512MB PCI-E w/ TV-Out, DVI (Lite Retail)

Optical Drive: LG Super Multi DVD Writer 16x16x10 DVD +/-RW Dual-Layer, Black (OEM)

Case: Atx SuperCase 115 (Black) w/ Front USB, 350W Power Supply

Power supply: ATX 350W Power Supply Included with Case

Total Cost: $872.01 CAD

Let me know how this sounds or what is missing. Thanks for all your help!

i cant really say on the parts, but a better quality power supply is going to be recommended.

^yeah. I'ts not recommended to use the power supplies that come with cases. You could look into getting maybe and Antec PSU, they're normally fairly cheap but are of great quality.

Everything else looks fine.

I would look for a good brand of PSU and in the 400 to 450w range. Looking at your link, it says in the headline a 350w PSU and in the feature list it says a 300w PSU. So, who knows what you would actually get.

Thanks for all the replies,

I decided to switch to a different casing and the power supply to a 400W SmartPower 2.0 (SP-400)

That looks good then.

The only thing I notice is that your DVD Burner does not come with any burning software. If you have some, its a good choice. If you need software though, I'd go with this LiteOn: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...facture=Liteon Ncix is a popular Canadian retailer, all of MemoryExpress's drives were without software.
