Just finished building first computer

Well I've finally finished building my first computer which I'm pretty happy about. Take a look and see how it is. Here is what I used.

- Case = Xion II ATX Mid - Tower
- Processor = AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200
- Motherboard = Asus A8N-E Socket 939
- Hard Drive = Western Digital Raptor 150GB
- Memory RAM = Corsair Value DDR400 1GB
- Power Supply = Ultra X2 Connect 550-Watt
- Video Card = Radeon X 1600 Pro
- Sound Card = Turtle Beach Riviera 5.1 Channel
- Floppy Drive = Ultra 7-in-1 Digital Media Drive
- CD / DVD Rom = Liteon 16 X All in one

All seems to run good but for 2 things...I have no sound yet but I think thats just a driver problem and the other is I can't seem to connect to the internet...I'm a little lost in that part right now.

How do you usually connect to your internet? Dial-Up, DSL/CABLE, or etc.?

Dial-Up: You need to install a modem and the drivers.

DSL/CABLE: You motherboard has onboard LAN, you may just need to install the drivers for it.

You also will need to install the drivers for the sound card. You can find the newest one here (just right click and save):

ftp://ftp.voyetra.com/pub/tbs/riviera/rivi_wdm.exe

You probably need to install the drivers for the sound card. You can find it here:
I connect by DLS/CABLE. I've got 2 computers in the house connected by a Linksys modem, my computer being the secondary one. I'm not trying to add the new one as a third computer, I just want to replace the old one with it. When I try to get the new one going I get no connection, but once I set up my old one again (which I'm on now) it connects fine.

Are you plugging the speaker plug into the right port? And are you using powered speakers?

Did you install the NIC drivers? Which browser are you using?

If your driver is already installed and you know that the LAN cable is working and connected properly. Maybe your LAN port is dead. Before you suspect this, double check and make sure it is enabled in Device Manager.

You can test the "LAN port is dead" theory by installing a spare NIC card in the system and see if it will allow your computer to connect.
