Question Building a new rig for the first time details inside!!!!!

I want to build a PC withthe best possible parts in it so I need help on getting parts for the rig.
I have a $2000+ budget and I am going to use this PC for hardcore gaming.
I want to buy the new Intel dual core processor and I need to know what motherboards you recommend for this build

Ok, for your requirements, I suggest you wait just 3 days more before selecting the processor.

The new intel core 2 duo (conroe) is coming out and will demolish any processor intel or amd currently on the market. And to boot, its has a very high bang/buck ratio. And will consume less power.

But you can already buy the ddr2 ram, psu, hdd, optical drives, motherboard, case, and video card.

Or do you wish to go with current offerings?

isn't it sad how $2000 can't get you even nearly the best computer. I think I poured about $3000 US into my computer, and I easily could have added another $7000 onto that.

Anyways, for the motherboard, pick a CPU you like, then look at motherboards that support it. Go with a well known and reputable brand name, and just look at which one has the best features to you. There's no perfect motherboard, but if you know what you want from it you should be able to find one that suits you.

computerdude, might I ask what's wrong with the very thorough thread you created here?

If you're still planning on doing a Core Duo build, then you've come at the right time. You can also continue the topic at the old thread.
