Am2 Build

Ok I posted a build a couple of weeks ago, but with the amd price cuts, I decided to go with AM2.

First off i'd like to say I don't need any dvd/cd drives, a floppy drive, speakers, keyboard/mouse, or monitor.
Hers my list of parts.

Ok, so I have a few questions. This is my first time building a computer so I have some fears of the unknown.

Firstly, cooling. Would you guys advise any extra fans to keep the system cool? As far as I know, it looks fine, but im not sure. Secondly, do the parts I have listed come with all the necessary cables I need to hook everything up? Especially concerning the Hard Drive. Also, you think I'm good with the memory I chose? In the reviews on newegg it seems they work with am2 and even that specific motherboard, yet it is not listed on the QVL list on the asus site for that motherboard.

And if you happen to see incompatability with the parts let me know, I'm almost 100 % positive they will work though.

Any and all advice welcome. If it all looks good I'll be ordering it in the next couple days. Thanks

Try posting links to the parts individually; the wishlist is locked and password protected, so we can't see it :-)

On the cables, hdds and whatnot usually come with cables, but again I'd have to see the links to the products to be sure.

On the fan; any cpu fan other than the one that comes with it will void the warranty. And a different fan is not really needed unless you're planning on overclocking.

Need to see the ram to know :-)

Give us links to the parts, and we'll see what we can do!

Good luck.

Nice selection, and a well balanced build. Nothing I would change there at all.

You're right in saying that the Corsair XMS2 is not on the QVL for that board, but we've now had a number of reports of sucessful builds using the MN2-E motherboard and that RAM. I see no reason why the SLI version you chose should be any different.

Congrats on doing your homework on this, and hope the build goes well

Concur with Freakitchen. You've avoided the most common mistakes of first time builders: bad psus and incompatible parts. Either you've got good luck, or did good homework.

Either way, have fun!

Looks good.
You can save some cash if you can find the case without the PSU.
Stick with the stock CPU cooling.
If you have heat issues add fans to the side vents before you consider changing the CPU cooler.
