Noob: your suggestions needed

Greetings all, I am currently in need of building a new comp, it will ideally be suitable for next gen gaming and extreme performance. I am looking to design a rig around a Gainward BLISS GeForce 7950 GX2 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dua graphics card or ideally two of these, so what I really need to know is what parts I need to make this happen and which ones will be compatible, as i dont know my a*** from my elbow when it comes to this sort of thing. Any and all help would be appreciated.

the buget doesnt have to be too economical as im prepared to shell out for a good system not sure what sort of cash that is going to take though. I believe AMD is the leading company in processor design so far (although im not sure) so I'll go with that.

Well AMD has been leading for a while but with these Conroe Core 2 Duo Processors from Intel, Intel is the greatest now.

Core 2 Duo is being released tomorrow. So you can buy the motherboard ram and everything else now and add chip later.

Do you plan on running a dual card config?

Intel Chipsets are currently only supporting crossfire. If you really wanna go with dual card go with X1900XT/X's.

And one last question. Do you plan on doing overclocking or no? And you have no budget limit correct?

Good luck running Dual 7950's - I don't think nVidia officially supports the end user runnig quad SLI (I think there are beta drivers - but beta is the keyword ). Besides, there aren't any SLI chipsets out for Intel yet.

Yup budget isnt an issue and im not really fussed about overclocking, not worth overworking my system for the sake of a small increase in performance.

Ahah thats where your wrong, If you can do it right, you will get a very high increase in performance, especially with better cooling. And conroe is the overclocking chip to have. But thats a different story

As a preliminary I suggest the following:

Case: I cant suggest, get one that suits your tastes, with your kinda budget I would pick a nice lian li. Mid Tower or Full Tower

HDD: Once again depends on how much and how fast you need. I would pick up a nice Seagate 7200.10 or 2 for storage and get a nice western digital raptor for games and programs.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148140 or 500gb version if you so need.
Raptor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136012

Memory: You say you dont want to overclock. Then get something 1:1 or a little above.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227078 <---little headroom
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227076 <---if you just wanna stay 1:1.

Motherboard: You say you want dual card.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131025

Powersupply:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104015

Processor:
I would suggest a Core 2 duo E6700 $575~ or if you really wanna go all the way a X6800 900-1000~.

Video Card(s):
Crossfire Edition: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102676 Just add a second one if you want to go dual card. Or if you dont plan on going dual card, get a normal one. (1900XT/X)
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130023

Optional or if you so please.
Sound Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102188 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102190 if you wanna go all the way.

If you really want to go sli with conroe, then I would wait until the new Nforce chipset boards come out next month or so.
