Pentium D vs AMD
Hi all,
I just need some quick opinions on the performance of each processor that I'll be getting tomorrow, I've narrowed it down to: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Dual Core Processor S939 OR AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Dual Core Processor S939 OR Intel Pentium D 940 3.2GHZ LGA775 2X2MB 800FSB Prices of these processors are roughly the same, and the stats of the 940 seems much better than the two AMD's, yet it seems like the AMD's are much more popular, I have no idea why if someone could explain it to me that would be great. I want to get the most bang for my buck and I'm really looking for stability and the processor which will last me the longest. If you could recommend me a motherboard that would be great too. Thanks for your help. |

If you can wait a few weeks, you can blow all of them away with the new Core 2 Duo Intels that came out today.

6300 at stock 1.86ghz speeds is beating out some of the top amd dualcore chips (I cant remember which exact one off the top of my head right now) and with a very mild overclock at 2.4ghz its beating out amd's top o the line FX-62
